Matthew A. Muns
Mr. Muns was named CEO by majority shareholder MDCC Holdings, LP in September 2007 after MDCC acquired MCL.
Mr. Muns holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Communications from Southern Methodist University as well as a Juris Doctorate degree from St. Thomas University School of Law. Mr. Muns is a member of the state bar of Texas. Before coming on board with MDCC Holdings, Muns was a practicing corporate attorney.
Since Mr. Muns has taken over leadership of MCL it has shown year over year growth of 200%.
Contracts and Engineering Director
Dave Shiels is a Mozambique resident and a civil engineer with over 30 years experience in the civil construction and building industry. His extensive experience in structural and civil design adds great value and capacity to MCL.
Mr. Shiels has completed rural/urban water and sewer reticulation projects, along with bulk water supply and storage development. He has also engineered agricultural irrigation systems and canals. His construction experience is diverse having planned and developed low density housing, industrial factories, bridges, and fabricated and erected steel structures.
He is the Director of Contracts and Engineering for MCL and works out of our Maputo office. Dave is also an active member of the South African Institute of Civil Engineering (SAICE).
Business Development Manager
Alex joined the MCL team in July 2008. Prior to joining MCL Alex was managing his own financial consulting firm, which catered to the ecotourism industry.
Alex holds a degree in accounting from the University of South Africa, Johannesburg and brings vast financial and accounting experience with him including stints at KPMG and BCI-Fimento, one of the largest banks in Mozambique. After originally managing the finance department for MCL, Alex has taken over new business development and is adding his expertise of the Mozambique business community to expand MCL’s sales.
Danie joined MCL in 2011 as a Senior Contracts Manager from Trencon Construction in Johannesburg, SA. Danie throughout his twenty year career has overseen a wide variety of construction projects including water treatment plants, multi-story commercial and residential buildings, roads, housing developments and industrial facilities.
Nick rejoined MCL in 2013 after managing construction, development and operational interests for parent company MDCC in the U.S. for the previous 2 years. Nick was the comptroller of MCL in 2009-2010 and brings back previous Mozambique knowledge combined with refined operational and project management expertise gained during the last couple of years.
Conrad joined MCL in 2013 as a Senior Contracts Manager after having previously served as Area Manager/Major Projects Manager for DYS Trocca Valsesia and Co. Ltd. in Nigeria. Conrad prior to working in Nigeria was with Aveng Grinaker South Africa for several years as a Contracts Manager. He brings in-depth and a diversified knowledge of the vertical building industry to MCL.
Alexander comes to MCL after practicing as a corporate tax attorney in the United States. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Syracuse University. Alex also holds Juris Doctorate and Master of Laws in Taxation degrees from the University of Miami School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida. In addition to overseeing MCL’s finance department, Alex brings previous international tax experience that will create value for the company.
